About Wild Roots

Step out of the noise of everyday life and into a deeper way of seeing.

Re-discover your wild self.

In conservation, re-wilding means healing damaged ecosystems by restoring the conditions that let life flourish. Humans need this restoration too. Rooted in the spirit of re-wilding, our gathering offers space to slow down, breathe, and remember what it feels like to belong—to the Earth, to your own body and inner self, to one another, and to the Mystery that holds us all.

In 2023, Corey Turnpenny, leader of Church in the Wild, and Ellyn Sanna, managing editor of Anamchara Books, discovered they shared a vision: inviting others into the re-wilding experience. This is the intention from which Wild Roots was born. In a world that often leaves us fragmented, hurried, and cut off from wonder, our Wild Roots gathering is a doorway back to awe, beauty, creativity, and the untamed wisdom that is still ours to claim.

Through music, movement, ritual, conversation, and time in the natural world, we create a welcoming space where wonder can open us again—softening what has grown numb, rekindling joy, and making room for deeper connections. This is a place to listen, to play, to reflect, to be nourished, and to imagine new ways of living in relationship.

At a time when fear, division, and despair can feel overwhelming, Wild Roots offers something both simple and radical: the chance to remember the roots that connect us to a living, sacred whole. Our hope is that what begins here will not end when the weekend is over, but will continue to ripple outward—into your relationships, your work, your community, and the wider world.

The farther you walk into the natural living world, the more the spirits of leaf, root, and shadow help you remember the authentic self.

We don’t have to cultivate a connection with the Earth, we only have to acknowledge and remember the connection that already is.
